Picture: Fourth grade students display their kites.

On Friday, April 13, Slocum's 4th grade classes had enough wind to fly their homemade kites.  Although they looked wonderful, none had the right wind resistance to fly.  After running around for 30 minutes, most of the class gave up.  The kites were an extra credit project assigned by Mrs. Severn.

There will be a parent awareness meeting on May 8 at 7:30 to discuss Slocum ISD piloting a High School BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) initiative next year. Come listen to a brief explanation of the project and ask any questions that you may. Let us share our vision with you.

Slocum FFA’s band, Four Is A Crowd, got first place at the District Convention in Cayuga on April 30, 2012. They will be advancing to the Area Convention, May 12, 2012 for a chance to go onto the annual Texas State Convention.

The Slocum FFA Banquet is May 14, 2012 at 6:30 and will be held in the Slocum Cafeteria.

Congratulations to both the girls softball team and the boys baseball team for making the playoffs again this year.
