Slocum's Beta Club hosted Carter Blood Care for their annual blood drive. Each person that gave blood saved three lives. If you missed this drive, there is a Carter Blood Drive Van at Tractor Supply Co. on Mondays from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Mrs. Lively and Mrs. Sizemore's fifth grade class learned about the history of American Indians. They learned about how and where they lived. They constructed make-believe Indian houses from different materials just like Indians would have made their houses. The elementary students were able to tour the Indian houses and ask questions about them.
Congratulations to the Slocum FFA Showteam, they exhibited heifers at the East Texas State Fair this past weekend. Katelynn Hogan was 8th with her Charolais, Jennifer Jones won 2nd Maine-Anjou, and Kelsee Webb was 5th with her Beefmaster and 4th in the JBBA show. Each girl won her heifer through the ACYLA Calf Scramble. Way to go girls!
The Slocum Junior High basketball season is in full swing. The girls won second place in the Martinsville Tournament and the boys took the first place Championship home! Congratulations to both teams!
