Mrs. Severn's 4th grade class experimented with electrical charges. Using balloons, we tried to remove sand from a piece of paper. We learned that because of the static charge the balloon carried, we were able to remove the sand without touching it or the paper!
Mrs. Trahan's Junior and Senior English classes are writing letters to the World War II Veterans that have been selected to take a trip on October 17th to Washington to tour the WWII Memorial. On the return trip there will be a mail-call for the veterans in which they receive letters of gratitude for their service. Slocum ISD Junior and Seniors are happy to participate in the mail-call.
PreKindergarten went on a field trip to Brookshire's grocery store. They had a great time getting to take tour of the store and decorating their own cakes! Afterwards, they went to Mazzio's where they got to eat lunch, tour the restaurant,and learn how to make pizza. Sounds like they had a great time!
Kindergarten through 3rd grade also went on a field trip of their own. They went to Crockett to watch the Piney Woods Fine Art Association's Click Clack Moo play. After watching the play, they got to spend the rest of the field trip playing in the park.
Mrs. Lively's 5th grade class has been working hard, studying for their UIL competition coming up on December 1st and 2nd.
Slocum will have their annual Fall Fest on Friday October 22nd. There will be games, a cake walk, bounce houses, food and drinks, and lots more. It will be held at the Slocum school campus. Anybody is welcome to come and have a great time!
